Font in Abbeyland South stands inside St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Navan, County Meath. Dopping saw it in St Mary’s abbey in 1693, and it still holds water for baptism centuries later. The limestone basin has survived the loss of the abbey itself, carrying abbey water into a living church.

The limestone font described by Dopping (1693) as being in St Mary’s abbey (Reynell 1888-91, 463) is now in St Mary’s Church of Ireland church (ME025-044009-) in Navan (Roe 1968, 89-91).

The font was originally part of St Mary’s abbey and later moved to St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Navan; it is a limestone font dating to the medieval period, likely 12th to 13th century, and reflects the architectural and religious heritage of the abbey.
