What is recorded here
Fintragh is a broken stone-and-earth ring on a Donegal knoll, its northern wall quarried away and its southern edge marked by a bank against bare rock. The flat interior still holds the shape of a small defended life, perhaps a farmhouse, perhaps a watchpost, abandoned before the stones were taken for other walls. The sea remains close enough to hear in the grass, and the missing wall reminds the eye that the place has already survived one erasure.
Internal diam. 18.1m ENE WSE, 15.6m NNW SSE. A subcircural area enclosed on the N side by a largely destroyed stone wall of original width c. 2.2m. Most of the S side of the monument is defined by a bank of earth and stone and on the SE by rock outcrop, on the inside, and the outer edge marked by an earthen bank up against the outcrop. Part of the edge has been quarried away on the S side. The interior is flat. The site is located on a knoll of land sloping S to the sea. The surrounding land is poor to fair pasture.
