What is recorded here
In rough partially reclaimed pasture, immediately S of townland boundary with Kilfrush and 520m S of Kilfrush House. Not marked on OSi historic maps. Identified as a possible field system by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 101; AP 5/2199). Visible as a pattern of linear cropmarks, some perpendicular to each, covering a large area (dims. c. 550m N-S x 300m E-W) on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. Linear cropmarks may represent the remains of post-1700 drainage channels associated with land reclamation works at Kilfrush House rather than the remains of a medieval field system.
See attached Bruff survey image showing cropmark labelled Bruff 101 and Google Earth orthoimages.
