Marianne and the unknown man walked the SW-facing slope above the Kerry River, touching scattered stones left behind after deep ploughing erased the old field boundaries. She wondered whether those walls had once separated pasture, prayer or memory, while he wondered whether forgetting them had been an act of cruelty or mercy. The valley breathed beneath them, neither approving nor condemning, only keeping what people had stopped seeing.

In an area of rough hill grazing on bog, on a SW-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Kerry River. A series of relict stone field boundaries adjoining an enclosure (CO090-013----) were noted in this area in October 1988. However the entire area has been deep-ploughed in more recent times and it would appear that the relict walls have been destroyed. Several stones are scattered on the disturbed uneven surface at the location indicated in 1998. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
