Field boundary in Gowlane (dunkerron South By.)

On rough rush-covered hill grazing on blanket bog, on a N-facing slope overlooking the valley of Derreendarragh River. The remains of a relict field wall (T 0.75m; H 0.4m) protrude intermittently above the surface of the bog as it winds downslope in a general NW direction for c. 120m and then runs out on a level shelf. Stone for the nearby 'fionnán' enclosures, which were used for storing moor-grass, were probably taken from this field wall.
