What is recorded here

This short stretch of an intra-peat wall is exposed in a cut-away section of bog on the S side of the Bridia Valley. Running NE-SW, it is 5.35m long and is composed of large boulders. It occurs on .35m of peat, .5m below the present surface of the bog. The wall averages 1.2m wide and .55m high, and the roots of an in situ pine stump directly overlie a portion of it. A sample of peat from the level of the base of the wall yielded a radiocarbon determination of 2810±80 BP (McDonnell 1991, 36). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
