Field boundary

What is recorded here

On S-facing slope in cutaway bog now covered in a dense growth of heather. Two lengths of pre-bog wall uncovered in turf-cutting appear to form two sides of a roughly rectangular structure, probably a small field. Long axis NE-SW (L >17m, Wth >13m). Built of large slabs. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
