Field boundary in Commons West (bear By.)

On the lower NW-facing peaty slopes of Miskish Mountain, overlooking Coulagh Bay to the NW. A series of collapsed, relict, stone field boundaries (T 0.55m; H 0.65m) occur in a roughly rectangular area (c. 160m NE-SW; c. 70m NW-SE). Both linear and curvilinear stretches of relict boundaries were identified. A combination of earth and stone was used in their construction. Occasionally the remains of the stone boundaries protrude above the surface of the shallow bog. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
