Field boundary in Canrooska — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Canrooska still holds a forgotten village shape beneath its shallow bog. Curved stone lines cross the hill pasture like the ribs of a drowned room, while a small circle, a row and a cairn mark the places where human attention once gathered. The field boundaries do not behave like ordinary walls; they reveal a lost layout in which even the stones may have been set to face the life moving past them.

In rough hill pasture, on cutaway bog, on a W-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Canrooska River. A network of mainly curvilinear, relict, stone field boundaries (T 0.6m; H 0.4m), which protrude above the surface of the remaining shallow bog, covers an irregularly shaped area (c. 150m N-S; c. 100m E-W). Many of the stones in the relict boundaries are set at right angles to the line of the walls. A stone row (CO090-006001-), a five-stone circle (CO090-006002-) and a cairn (CO090-006003-) are located within the field boundary network.
