Field boundary in Bunnamohaun

Situated in the eastern part of the townland on the steep south-eastern slopes of Knockmore. It lies to W of one the tributaries of the Owenmore River and directly overlooks a strikingly flat and green patch of the commonage. It consists of a dilapidated and slightly meandering stretch of wall (L c. 40m) that follows a roughly NW–SE axis. The wall is composed of a single line of stones and small boulders of rounded profile that protrude through the sward (Wth 3m max., H 0.5m max.). The line of a slight drainage channel (Wth c. 0.4m × D c.0.2m) is apparent along its eastern side for most of its length. Traces of tillage ridges are just discernible to E of the wall in the area between it and the stream. The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology.
