Clo 'n Aoineach, the stone of the gathering, still leans east inside its shallow cairn on the poor floor of Glencolumbkille. A cross and two mysterious circles mark its face, while a small hole pierces the hub as if the rock once guided a rope, a rod, or a memory. People may have gathered there to measure, remember, or simply witness the valley because the stone still invites attention.
A subcircular cairn (DG080-012001-) 3.7m in diameter surrounds a cross-inscribed slab (DG080-012002-) sloping to the E. The slab, 1.84m × 0.42m × 0.09m has decoration on its NW face and is perforated, .33m from the top, at the hub of a cross design enclosed in a circle. A stem descends from this circle and expands into a middle circular depression and a lower circular motif which cannot be deciphered due to weathering. The stone which is called Clo 'n Aoineach (The stone of the gathering) is situated in poor land on the floor of Glencolumbkille valley.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.

Early Christian cairn and cross-slab, likely 7th to 9th century AD. The perforated cross-slab suggests ritual or functional use, possibly as a standing stone or marker, and reflects the spread of Christian symbolism in early Irish monastic landscapes.
