Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Russaun

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Mortons and Delany hunted the fort for a cabala chamber, but Pyke and O'Rafferty still debate whether the site is human or fairy-made. The chamber may hold a green bottle of witch-butter, a silver cup of bee-bread, or a little book of boggart laws. The women must leave the fort before midnight, return the tools to the cart, and stop asking the dead to confirm what they already suspect.
On a ridge in grassland. Subcircular cashel (c. 22.3m E-W; c. 20.2m N-S), in fair condition, defined by a low collapsed drystone wall that is grass-covered from S to W to NW. A gap at ESE appears to be modern. A number of mature trees are growing in the interior and along the outer face of the enclosing wall.
