Rockfield House in County Limerick once contained a massive stone fortress built without mortar, yet its precise location has vanished. Lewis described thick walls of large ingeniously fitted blocks in 1837, suggesting a capacious ancient stronghold rather than a mere fairy tale. The stones may still hide beneath grass or soil, waiting for someone to kick through the turf and discover the forgotten heart of the demesne.

The precise location of a cashel in the demesne of Rockfield House in the parish of Ardcanny has not been identified.
