Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Parkaloughan

Fairy fort in Parkaloughan, County Galway: an oval cashel about 80 metres long and 55 metres wide, marked by a bank of earth and stone beneath later field walls. It sits in level pastureland, partly buried under ordinary farming boundaries, yet its shape still reads as a made place rather than a heap. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped there before the fields closed over it; the stones keep that much without explaining the rest.
