Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Morgans South

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Morgans South once held a twenty-metre stone ring, now erased except for a buried dump of limestone boulders in the field’s north corner. The fort disappeared during ordinary land clearance, yet the stones remain scattered like a forgotten sentence. It is a small cruel joke of progress: a whole human shelter reduced to rubble because people wanted flat pasture.
In low-lying undulating pasture. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m), has been levelled. According to local information site consisted of circular dry-stone enclosure removed during land clearance. Approximately in area of site, in N corner of field, is dump of limestone boulders which probably derived from enclosure. Otherwise, No trace of monument evident when inspected.
