Morgans North holds a broken stone ring where human hands first folded limestone into a circle. The wide flat bank still crosses the low scrub like a forgotten road, and the northern gap admits a person without ceremony. Maybe a family lived inside, maybe a herdsman kept stock from the rain, or maybe the stones marked a boundary between the visible world and the fairy road. The fort no longer claims to be much, but it keeps its shape, and that much is enough to remember.

In low-lying area of scrub, with a lot of limestone outcropping. Roughly circular area (25m N-S; 31m E-W) enclosed by collapsed stone wall (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.95m) forming a wide flat-topped bank (max. Wth. c. 7.5m). Entrance to NE (Wth. 2.4m) possibly original; widened in recent times. Interior recently cleared of scrub overgrowth.; surface very uneven due to dumps of loose stones; interior may be raised slightly above level of surrounding terrain. Low stony bank (H c. 0.5m; Wth. 6m) extends from enclosing bank at SSE for c. 30m; stone-built field boundaries abut enclosure to NE and SE. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
