Fairy fort in Lyroe, County Cork: a 35m stone ring on a NW-facing slope, with a fosse, outer bank, and a level interior raised where the hill falls. People may have lived there, hidden there, or simply kept out what the locals still call fairy. The ground makes a room, and the room makes a claim back.

In rough grazing, on NW-facing slope. Subcircular area (diam. c. 35m) enclosed by stone wall; fosse E->W; outer bank E->S. Interior level; raised (H c. 2m) on NW side to compensate for hillslope. Hartnett (1939, 73) noted possible Man-made underground passage (9087) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
