Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Lissatunny

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible gate or intact chamber remains, only a broken circular wall standing in open pasture beside a shifting water basin. The name suggests people once believed the site belonged to fairy rather than human hands, yet the measured diameter and drystone construction point to a made cashel. A field wall now cuts through its northern interior, dividing the old circle into ordinary farmland. What was lost is not whether the wall existed but whether people still recognised it as a home when they first walked past it.
In level pastureland overlooking a turlough to the NW. This poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. 26.5m) is defined by a ruinous drystone wall. Traces of inner and outer wall-facing are visible in the SW quadrant. A field wall cuts through the N sector of the interior.
