What is recorded here

Killalongford holds a broken stone ring where human hands built a boundary the fairies later inherited. The wall stands one to two metres wide and rises barely above ankle height, yet it still draws a circle twenty-two metres across. People may have lived inside that ring before forgetting how to leave it. The fairies never stopped occupying it, which is why the stones remain sharp and the ground inside feels owned.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Circular area (diam. c. 22m) defined by stone wall (av int. H 0.8m, ext. H 1.2m; Wth 1-2m) except at SW where low earthen bank is present. No visible surface traces of entrance.
