Inishloe, County Clare: A stone ringfort, called a fairy fort in local tradition, stands as a cashel marked in the Archaeological Survey of Ireland. Its stones may have surrounded a home, a shrine or a boundary, while the fairy name suggests people once treated the place as owned by unseen neighbours. The gap between those meanings is not a mistake; it is the shape of the landscape, where human memory and imagination both claim the same stones.
