Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Gortnasythe is a fairy fort or stone ringfort in Gortnasythe, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a subrectangular grass and scrub-covered area on the outer edge of a shelf on the W-facing slope of Carrowkeeny Hill. A well-constructed faced stone wall defines the rounded corners, remains best preserved at the north, and an entrance opens at that same point. Archaeological testing in the vicinity failed to produce any related material.

Marked only on the 25-inch ed. of the OS map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), and situated on the outer edge of a shelf on the W-facing slope of Carrowkeeny Hill. This is a subrectangular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 43m N-S; 34m E-W) with rounded corners defined by the base of a well-constructed faced stone wall, best preserved at N (Wth 1.6-1.75m) but reduced to a stone spread or obscured by field stones elsewhere. There is an entrance at N. Archaeological testing (03E1655) in the vicinity failed to produce any related material (Fitzpatrick 2006a). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
