No visible breach, no central hall, no clean ring. That is why the fort still thinks like a fortress and the land still remembers it as a border. The rectangular cashel in Cragreagh keeps its edge against the eastern fall, with stone spread wide enough to carry a wall and a separate building tucked into the south-east corner. A human hand may have lived there, marked the terrace, or withheld entry from the west. The shape refuses the usual fairy-fort joke, which is what makes it worthy of the name.
At the leading E edge of a wide level terrace of pastureland, with a low but vertical fall under the site to the E. Listed as an ‘Enclosure (possible)’ in the RMP (1996). Indicated on Robinson’s (1997) map. A poorly preserved rectangular cashel (27m S-N; 24 E-W) defined by a grass covered stone spread (Wth 2.65-3.4m) with external facing (H 0.4-1.7m) intermittently all around except at W and internal facing (H 0.4m) only at W. There is a rectangular building in the SE corner (CL005-107002-), with a partially enclosed pond on its N side and a later wall is built on the outer edge of the cashel at E.

A fairy fort or stone ringfort in Cragreagh is a circular earthen or stone enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries. Local folklore often associates such sites with the supernatural, including tales of fairies or ancient druidic activity.
