What is recorded here

No visible stone remains, yet the ground still holds the shape of a fort large enough for a hundred people to circle. That size suggests a trading post, a seasonal camp, or a boundary marker rather than a private home. The grass may have swallowed the wall, but the width of the lost ring still refuses to become a fairy tale.

On a W-facing slope in gently undulating grassland. Named on OS Fair Plan as 'Connells Fort' and marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as an oval enclosure (c. 50m by c. 35m).
