Mortons and Eochu fort appear elsewhere in Ireland, but Carrickfad keeps its own name and shape. A circular stone spread marks the edge of a forgotten dwelling, perhaps human, perhaps fairy, buried now beneath forest growth. The absence of an entrance does not empty the place; it withholds the memory from people who arrive without patience.

Located towards the S end of a steep-sided NW-SE ridge in a coniferous forest. Circular, overgrown area (int. diam. c. 23m) defined by a collapsed and overgrown stone spread (Wth 4m; H 0.4m).
