What is recorded here

Carnaun holds a faded stone ring at the foot of a castle hillock, its low bank barely visible beneath grass and forgetfulness. The interior rises slightly above the surrounding ground, suggesting a deliberate enclosure rather than a random heap of rocks. Two faint banks stretch outward, possibly marking old field boundaries or guiding movement through the landscape. The place resists easy explanation, preserving only the ghost of a shape once strong enough to exclude or protect.

On level ground at the foot of a hillock occupied by a castle (GA084-040001-). This poorly preserved subcircular cashel (26m N-S; 21m E-W) is defined by a low grassed-over stony bank. The interior is raised c. 1m above the surrounding ground level. Two low stony banks radiate from the enclosing element at WNW and ESE; they are possibly part of the surrounding field system (GA084-040003-).
