Oileán an Chaca is a tiny trapezoidal island at the south-east end of Loch na Scainimhe, wrapped in a broken drystone wall that still stands one and a half metres high. A small round hut and the ghost of a quay mark its corners, proving people once rowed across open water to live inside this stone ring. The lake may have swallowed the causeway, but it never erased the shape of human ambition on that wet, isolated patch of earth.

At SSE end of Loch na Scainimhe. A small natural island (NW-SE 60m; E-W 30m), roughly trapezoidal in shape and known locally as Oileán an Chaca, is defined by a poorly preserved drystone wall (Wth 1.35-1.9m, H 1.5m). In SW corner there is a subcircular structure (D 6m int.), possibly a hut. At NNW corner are the remains of a small quay, and traces of a natural causeway lie to W.
