What is recorded here

No human has measured the chamber where the fort keeps its light. The railway cut through Bearnafunshin and the fort gave up its south side without a sound. What remains is a broken circle on a drumlin slope, wide enough for a person to walk inside and small enough for the sky to touch both walls. The missing section is not damage. It is an invitation. The fort shows itself through the gap it lost.

At the crest of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. Hachured as a circular area on the 1840 and 1920 OS 6-inch maps. A subcircular scrub-covered area (int. diam. 29m E-W; 24m N-S) defined by a stone spread (Wth 3.8-5.2m generally to 9.5m at S; int. H 0.1-0.4m generally to 0.6m at S; ext. H 0.3-0.8m) with internal and external stone facing visible, especially at NW and E (original Wth 2-2.5m). The interior is bisected by an E-W field wall and an area of rock outcrop (H 0.8m) is WSW of centre.
