Bealkelly in Purdon, County Clare holds a stone ringfort called a fairy fort, where local story claims the walls belong to invisible neighbours rather than dead men. The stones may have guarded a human home, blocked a road, or marked a boundary before fear and wonder renamed the purpose. People still treat the circle as live, not dead, because the name itself warns that the fort is not empty, only occupied by something that does not answer.
