What is recorded here

No visible stone survives because men forgot the fort and steel erased it. What remains is a absent circle, large enough to walk inside and empty enough to swallow a life. The land remembers shape even when it no longer shows one.

In farmland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 214-15, no. 75) as a circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 47.2m) defined by a drystone wall. No visible surface trace survives of it or of the associated ‘Man-made underground passage’ marked on 3rd ed. of OS map (1933).
