Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Ballylin East

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible hall, chamber or entry marker remains. The measure is a shallow circle, broad enough to hold a small life and narrow enough to exclude a crowd. That difference is the whole design. The fort is finished. The claim is not.
In pastureland on top of a long, gentle S-facing slope. When visited in 1983 this poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. 24.4m) was defined by a heavily overgrown drystone wall best preserved at N. On a revisit in 2001 the monument was completely overgrown and field-clearance rubble was thrown up against the external wall-face, particularly at S. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
