What is recorded here

Srue held a thirty-metre circular fort before a road cut through it. The earth has swallowed the boundary, leaving only rough grass and the memory of a line drawn in soil. Whatever life moved inside that circle has vanished, yet the road still marks the wound where the fort stood.
In rough overgrown land. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m) cut by a road. No visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
