Oghery Castle in ruins — Report the wrong picture

An Cnoc Bán, a castle on a small island in Ross Lake, belonged to Jonick Ohalorane in 1574. It vanished so completely that no wall or stone remains visible today. Whatever life moved through that water-locked place has returned entirely to the lake and memory.

On a small island in Ross Lake. In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of 'Jonick Ohalorane' (Nolan 1901, 115). The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927a, Vol. 3, 83) record that 'a small portion of its ruins are still shewn [sic]' and Killanin (1947, 123) mentions 'the remains of the foundations' but these appear to be of an 18th-19th-C single-storey building.
