Fairy fort / ringfort in Raheen

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts in Ireland are usually abandoned ringforts, circular enclosures built by people, not fairies. In Raheen, County Kildare, a roughly circular cropmark about 32 metres across still marks one such forgotten place. The name may be mischief, fear or wonder, but the shape suggests human hands, a boundary made visible when rain or growth reveals what the field has hidden.
