What is recorded here
No wall or ditch remains in the undulating grassland, yet the vanished circular enclosure still belongs to Loughpark. It overlooked dark bogland to the south, waiting for people who have stopped arriving. The grass has eaten the boundary, but the shape persists in memory and map.
In undulating grassland overlooking bogland to S. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m). No visible surface trace survives. (Knight c. 1975, 110).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
