Fairy forts hide in plain sight, wearing the clothes of ordinary ground. In Lismontigley the ridge still carries a shallow oval, thirty metres long and ten across, wide enough for a small house or a crowded dream. People may have lived there before forgetting the name, or the fairies may have borrowed the shape and returned it empty. Either way the land kept the outline while human memory let go.

A slightly raised area 10m SW-NE and 30m NW-SE probably indicates the location of the single-ringed 'Fort' shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. It was situated on the end of a SW-NE ridge.
