Lavagh's hidden fort defies easy belief because its own maps admit the contradiction. Drawn as a circular embanked enclosure on both the 1835 and 1907 OS sheets, it has no visible feature at ground level today. That gap between line and earth is the interesting part: a place can be recorded, measured and drawn while still refusing to show itself. The coniferous forest and drumlin slope do not need a fairy explanation; they need a witness who distinguishes drawing from discovery.

Located towards the top of the E-facing slope of a drumlin in a coniferous forest. It is indicated as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 30-35m) on the 1835 and 1907 (ext. diam. c. 40-45m) editions of the OS 6-inch map. No feature is visible at ground level.
