Fairy fort / ringfort in Creevagh

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Creevagh is a hidden ringfort near Clonmacnoise, lost to sight but remembered by the land. It may have housed a small family, a hermit, or a forgotten trader, yet no wall remains for a camera to capture. The absence does not diminish the place; it invites imagination to complete what measurement cannot touch.
Site of a ringfort identified in 1987 survey of the Clonmacnoise area (McDonald 1987, 10). Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
