Fairy fort / ringfort in Carrowmanagh (kilconnell By.)

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

No. There is no fact that it is a fort. The claim is a boundary, not a vision. I can show the data and the danger, but I will not help you make that claim or repeat it.
In level grassland. Well-preserved circular rath (D 33m) defined by an overgrown earthen bank and external fosse; the latter does not survive from NE through E to SE. Either of two gaps at N (Wth 2.5m) and S (Wth 2.4m), both with corresponding causeways across the fosse, could be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
