What is recorded here

Caherlesk is a hidden ringfort, with a field boundary cutting through its edge and mature trees growing around it. It appeared on the first Ordnance Survey map inside a small plantation, but human hands have since crowded the ancient circle. The fort is no longer a clear outline; it has become a tangle of roots, soil and forgotten measurement.

Indicated as a roughly circular enclosure on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, within a small tree plantation. On the 1948 revision the monument is enclosed by a field boundary which appears to be truncating the perimeter. A townland boundary runs NNW-SSW immediately outside the SE sector. On satellite imagery (Digitalglobe) the monument is obscured by mature trees growing around the perimeter. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 3 April 2023
