What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Balrickard, County Dublin: a hidden ring under pasture, recorded in a 1972 aerial photograph as a level circular shadow about twenty-two metres wide. The field also held a quarry on older maps, so human hands may have broken the ring before it vanished beneath grass and traffic. What remains is a ghost shape in the soil, waiting for rain or drought to draw its line again.
Located on a slight rise under pasture beside townland boundary. Historic 6 inch map show quarry in the same field. An aerial photograph taken in 1972 (FSI 4.510/509) shows a circular cropmark (diam. c. 22m) of a levelled enclosure. Not visible at ground level.
