What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Ballylusky: oval ringfort, thirty by twenty-five metres, marked on the 1840 map but erased from later ones. Elevated pasture, east-facing slope, views in every direction, two other enclosures within seventy metres. In 2000 no trace remained above ground. A faint twelve-metre circle appeared in a 2017 satellite image, then vanished from later ones. The land keeps taking back what it once gave up.
In elevated pasture on a slight E-facing slope with good views in all directions. Located 150m NE of the townland boundary with Rathbranagh, enclosure (LI021-064----) lies 70m to the NW; enclosure (LI021-065----) lies 60m to SW. The site is depicted as an oval fort (ext. diam. c. 30m NW-SE; 25m NE-SW) on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Not depicted on subsequent OSi maps. Inspected by the ASI in 2000 and described as having no extant trace above ground level. A potential corresponding faintly visible circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 12m) is visible on Google Earth orthoimages taken 25/03/2017, nothing is visible on the later orthoimages 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020.
