What is recorded here

A circular fort roughly thirty metres across stands on an elevated pasture slope in Ballylusky, facing east toward open country. It appeared on the 1840 Ordnance Survey map but vanished from later charts, and by 2000 no wall or ditch remained visible above ground. Yet the land still holds a faint circular shadow, perhaps a memory of people who watched the horizon from that small ridge before forgetting how to remember them.

In elevated pasture on a slight E-facing slope with good views in all directions. Located 175m NE of the townland boundary with Rathbranagh, enclosure (LI021-066----) lies 70m to SE, enclosure (LI021-065----) lies 125m to S. The site is depicted as a circular fort (ext. diam. c. 30m) on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. It is not depicted on subsequent maps. Inspected by the ASI in 2000 and described as having no extant trace above ground level, however surface undulations were noted. The fosse is faintly visible as a circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 28m N-S; 32m E-W) on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020.
