Fairy fort / ringfort in An Pollach Riabhach

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

An Pollach Riabhach held a forty-metre circular enclosure in level Galway grassland, visible enough for the 1838 survey but gone completely by 1952. Field boundaries clipped its edges while ordinary life pressed the mark from the earth. The fort did not resist time; it dissolved into the fields that needed room to exist.
In level grassland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m). Field boundaries clipped it SE and SW. McCaffrey (1952, 110) recorded that it was 'Completely effaced' during his survey of the area. No visible surface trace survives.
