Thirty-six metres of wet Offaly grass hide a broken ring where beech trees still mark the vanished bank. People may have lived inside the fort before converting it into a wooden enclosure, but the ditch and hollowed ground preserve more of that change than memory does. The fairies never appeared in the description, only in the name, as if people wanted to keep the unusual place at a distance.

Located on flat poorly drained land. Circular area (36m E-W) enclosed by low flat bank (Wth 7m) at W, reduced to a scarp elsewhere, wide external fosse (Wth 7m; int. D 1.7m) with no entrance feature visible. There are beech trees all along the perimeter of the enclosure indicating the possibility that this is a tree ring. The interior of the site appears to have been hollowed out. Possibly a ringfort modified into a tree ring.
