Fairy forts are no business of humans, but this one in Upperwood Demesne has a road cut through its southwest bank, proving that some human needed passage even there. The remaining circle measures sixty-eight to seventy metres across, bounded by a wide low earthen ridge and a shallow external ditch on three sides. Trees and scrub now fill the interior, hiding whatever the fort held or denied. The missing quadrant does not diminish the circle; it records the moment human necessity crossed fairy ground.

In an area of woodland and not indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map. A circular area (diam. c. 68-70m) bounded by wide, low earthen bank from N-E-S with traces of a shallow external fosse from NE-E-SE. The interior is overgrown with trees and scrub. The bank and fosse in the SW quadrant have been truncated by a public road which runs NW-SE where it meets the monument. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 29 July 2019
