Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tullyneasky East

In pasture, on SE-facing slope. Ringfort and Man-made underground passage (CO135-039002-) discovered during digging of foundation for silage pit in 1982 (UCC). Circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m); fosse (Wth 2.6m; max. D 1.2m) visible in section. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Tullyneasky East, likely dating to the early medieval period, is a circular enclosure with a fosse, possibly associated with ancient Irish folklore surrounding fairies and other supernatural beings. A man-made underground passage was discovered nearby during construction in 1982.
