What is recorded here

Muskerry people called it a fairy fort because the soil itself seemed to breathe life, not death. The ring encloses twenty-two metres of pasture above the Owenbaun River, bounded by a four-foot scarps on one side and a whisper of a ridge on the other. Humans may have stood inside that circle before forgetting the name, leaving the fairies the only tenants left to keep it company.

In pasture, on break in E-facing slope, overlooking Owenbaun River. Circular area (diam. 22m) enclosed by scarp (H 1.4m) to SE; slightgrass-coverd rise (H 0.4m) elsewhere. Shallow depression outside bank NNW->NE may be remains of external fosse. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
