Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Templeconnell

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marianne and Cleo breached the chamber, revealing a quiet room where gold ribbons swirled around a dark heart. They drank the water, tasted life itself, and collapsed into joyful darkness. The chamber sealed behind them, transforming their bodies into flexible light and giving them the ability to enter dreams. They emerged changed, carrying the chamber's music within their own skin.
In pasture, broken by rock outcrop. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 30m) on 1905 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace. Quarrying of rock outcrop appears to have taken place. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
