Half a century of grazing erased the west side, leaving only a steep, briar-choked scarp that rises two metres from the pasture. Badgers tunnel through the earth now, collapsing whatever boundary remained while Teerovannan Castle watches from three hundred metres away. The fairies kept their fort by refusing to be seen, hiding human work inside a natural hill until measurement became impossible.

On a slight platform of a low, conspicuous hillock, in improved pasture. Depicted on the 1840 edition of the OS 6-inch map as an oval area (c. 53m NW-SE; c. 46m NE-SW) defined by a trackway to W and NW. The monument survives as a semi-circular area (c. 48m N-S; c. 28m E-W) defined by a steep scarp (Wth 6m; H 2.65m) S-N. The scarp is covered in dense briars and thorn tree thickets and is burrowed in places by badgers. A short portion of this scarp is clearly visible at S, where it is grass-covered only. A low, curvilinear rise N-NE gives the impression of a continuation of levelled bank, however this appears to be a natural ridge. The ground falls steeply on the N-side of this ridge into a small valley. There is no obvious trace of a fosse. The interior is sloping down to E and S and is covered in vegetation across the W half and is incorporated into improved pasture across the E-half. The settlement of Teerovannan is to the immediate W and Teerovannan Castle is c. 320m to WSW. The following images have been uploaded: CL035-132----_01.jpg From ENE.
