Fairy forts are not for the living. They belong to the hidden people who still walk Kerry at night. This is one of their forts, an earthen ring built for beings who do not need doors or windows. It stands in Tawlaght, Trughanacmy Bay, Ballynahaglish Parish, County Kerry. The fairies made it, not men. They still live there. That is why the ground rings hollow when struck and why dogs refuse to enter. The ring has no gate because fairies do not knock. They wait for invitation. Never give one.
